Back / Ill-Literate Skill

As a post-millennium rap group from Cape Town, Jimmy Flexx and Tommy Jinxx have had to fight harder for their place, since they formed Ill Skillz with ex-group member Macho in 2005. From jumping on open mic slots to hosting and promoting their own events at different venues around Cape Town, they have come along way amidst a lot of nay saying and industry politics. Having dropped two earlier mixtapes namely ‘Another Day Another Rhyme’ EP, the 2 ‘Battle of Gugulethu’ a collaborative project with fellow Cape Town Hip Hop outfit, Driemanskap, Ill Skillz, as they’re affectionately known, proved that they have officially earned their stripes as one of South Africa’s premier hip hop duo’s.

Ill-Literate-Skill’s foundation has never been tried and tested as much as it was in 2010, but the crew is proving to be more determined and resilient then ever, with the independent release of their long awaited sophomore album, Off The Radar, as well as a monumental 24hr album Release titled “the Skillz that Pay the Billz”.

Their live show aspect has also maintained its energy and with the inclusion of Dj I.D. the and Ill Skill Playas(3-piece band) things can only get better. This being proved with Ill Skills opening for prestigious acts like People under the Stairs, Blu & Exile, Dj Premier and Slum Village.
